Virtual memory low

HELP! Not sure that I'm in the right forum but I have just registered.

I have a laptop that has been bearly used (one month each year for three years). This year it is painfully slow and keeps saying that the Virtual memory is low and 'running' programs stop responding. I have Nortons anti virus (up to date), I have loads of disk space but I don't know what to do next.

The other odd thing is that the Control/Alt/Del option to check the task manager has stopped working. How can I check the task manager to see what is running?

This may or may not be a malware problem. To find this out, please go through the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST and attach the requested logs.

If you find that you are unable to complete something, please make a note of what happens and continue on to the next step. By looking at the logs you attach, we'll be able to give you a better idea what could be wrong and if it's malware, to help you remove it.
