    Hey,
This is a complex little problem that I have taken on as a project, I have been given a server and want to get some virtualisation running on it. VMWares ESX is apparently the name in the business for that (I would look at HyperV but its rather too new for my liking, ESX seems a solid choice - at least bar recent issues; todays date bomb!).

What I want to achieve is a machine based on ESX with several servers sitting ontop as VM's, at least one of which will be a fileserver. This is where my problem begins, the VM's are all stored on one disk in seperate Virtual Disks and do not have access to each other or other physical disks, what I want is to be able to have one or more VM access my storage disks. I have been looking into ESX's 'RDM's' and find myself *very* confused!

Does anyone know about / use ESX that would be willing to provide some help to someone that is new to the software??

    Many Thanks In Advance!!
