I am trying to clean up a second backup computer. I know it tends to run slower because it is older and needs a memory upgrade, but then I started to get these drive cleaner pop ups, and everything went downhill from there.

I performed all of the READ & RUN ME First procedures, and I know some of the problems were fixed. I don't see any drive cleaner pop ups anymore, and everything is moving alot better. However Spybot is still picking up the Virtumonde trojan as well as blocking another intrusion. I downloaded and ran the Vundo fix, but the scan came out clean?? The logs are attached.

You must rename HijackThis.exe as requested in step 7 of the READ ME. If you are having Virtumonde problems, this is one of the main reasons for renaming it as stated in step 7. Rename it now and attach a new HJT log at the end of the below procedure.

Also Bitdefender said it found and delete the below files which were infected with DeepScan:Generic.Malware.SP!Yd!Pk!
    C:\Program Files\QuickTime\bak\qttask.exe
    C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe
    C:\Program Files\Verizon\SmartBridge\MotiveSB.exe

You need to check to see if these were all really deleted. Your system is still trying to load the first and third items at startup. If you need QuickTime and SmartBridge, you may need to reinstall from uninfected sources.

Is your copy of Spy Sweeper paid version? If free, uninstall it since it is of no use to you unless you buy it.

You can uninstall CounterSpy now since we are finished with this trial copy. Then delete the below two folders which may be left behind:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sunbelt Software
    C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
    Now run Ccleaner!

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. Avenger
    2. ShowNew
    3. HJT

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 1 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

I can't tell if those files were removed or not or how I should go about removing them, especially if they are tied to other programs?

I uninstalled Counterspy, and yes Spy sweeper is a paid version.

The new logs are attached as requested.

    Thanks!

Until you rename HijackThis.exe as requested multiple times, we are not going any further. Please rename it now and attach a new log.

Also are you saying you don't know how to use Windows Explorer to navigate through folders and look for files?

You also did not answer my other question about how things are working?

Sorry, I thought I renamed the program. No, I do know how to locate files via Windows Explorer. I searched for the files, and I was unable to find them, therefore I assume they were deleted. I meant, I wasn't sure if there were any traces left.

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser
sessions including the one you are reading in right now
    :
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {52706EF7-D7A2-49AD-A615-E903858CF284} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Motive SmartBridge] C:\PROGRA~1\Verizon\SMARTB~1\MotiveSB.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\bak\bak\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Now use Windows Explorer to delete the below if found
    :
    C:\Program Files\QuickTime <--- the whole folder:

    Now run Ccleaner

Now attach a new HJT log and tell me how the above steps went.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix, you can delete the ComboFix.exe file, C:\ComboFix folder, C:\QooBox folder, and the C:\combofix.txt log that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    5. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    6. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    7. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    8. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    9. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    Clean!

Make sure you complete all of those final steps. You still need to install a firewall.
