Virtumonde Nightmare!

    Hello,

    I've recently been stuck with this irritating trojan, Virtumonde. I've repeatedly scanned my PC for it, and then attempted to remove it using Spybot S+D - I also download NOD32 which doesnt seem to find anything, other than 4 files which are 'locked'. Along with those, I have Norton Antivirus, but it doesn't find anything either! The Virus has grown to an extent where It's beginning to infuriate me, any guidance on how to remove this pest would be sincerely appreciated.

    I have the Vundo Remover program, and the VirtumondoBegone program and HiJack this. If logs are required, I'm more than happy to post them.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    First if you have more than one antivirus program installed, uninstall ALL but one right now.

    No antivirus programs will properly find and remove Vundo infections! Also VundoFix and VirtumondoBegone will not fix the current versions and in most cases will not even find the infections. The below procedure will although we will have to do some manual cleaning after you run this procedure.

    Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions. If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.

    As far as I can see, My PC is now free of the nusence :)

    You're welcome, but you really should attach the logs that are requested. Real Virtumonde infections always require additional manual cleaning steps even though you may not be seeing any symptoms.
