virtumonde, smitfraud, zlob ... need help

i am trying to fix my mother's computer... it's a dell with xp
she doesn't have up to date virus protection and by the time she gave me the computer the internet was being hijacked and redirected no matter what she did... and now nothing comes up when you boot up in regular mode... in safe mode i was able to download spybot and clean up most of the 201 problems... now i am stuck with virtumonde, smitfraud and zlob... i have read all the posts related to this problem... but my problem is that no matter what i do i can not even get to your site or to any other site that would allow me to download anything related to fixing malware or viruses... i can not even download hijackthis... the furthest i can get is to download.com but the only successful downloads i have gotten are ccleaner and spybot... any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated

 

Thanks, I had no luck downloading anything to her machine. I will download everything to my machine and try it that way.

 

Thanks for responding to my post and offering your help... but her computer is just too far gone... I downloaded everything to a cd and tried to work from that... some things would install and some wouldn't... some would run and some wouldn't... all her system restore dates are gone, and the option to restore to original settings wouldn't even work... every day it just got worse and worse... today everything i tried to open popped up the box asking what program i wanted to use to open things... and then it just started looping and restarting over and over... guess i'll try the recovery discs as a last option and TRY really hard not to lecture her for not using any protection for the second time
