"Virus Alert" icon still beside Time, even after running Hijackthis!

Hello, I have an icon that constantly goes from a "Blue question mark" to a "red circle going across its middle" beside where the TIME is shown. Sometimes, a banner, right above it, pops up saying

    "Your computer is infected!

    Critical System Error!
    System detected virus activities.
They may cause critical system failure. Please, use antimalware software to clean and protect your system from parasite programs. Click here to get all available software."

I used Hijack this to remove some stuff (and there was some bad stuff), but it didn't do the trick. The icon is still there in the tray. Also, whenever I deleted the R1's and the R0's in HIJACKTHIS, if the virus makes a site come up or brings up a pop-up, THE R1's and R0's come back and I gotta delete em again with Hijackthis.

One more thing: sometimes a small yellow "YIELD" sign appears beside the "virus alert!" icon in the tray, and it describes a trojan or virus that is in my comp and it advises me to download a certain program by clicking on it. When I click on it, a website of the program pops up.

These are all the symptoms. The computer has not slowed down or anything, and I can use it fine, but this virus is really freaking annoying because of the popup windows and the little icon in the tray.

In the attachments, you will find an attachment of a Hijackthis log scan without the R1,R0s. After deleting the r1s and r0s with Hijackthis, the popups are not as consistent and take a much longer time to comeback.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!
