    Sirs,

The problem that I am having has been very frustrating and hard to kill, hopefully your malware removal procedures will help me to kill it. I am not the most tech savvy guy, but I followed the Instrustions to the letter.

Info on problem: I started noticing an increasing amount of ads when I used google search on Mozilla firefox. I thought nothing of it and ran SuperAntiSpyware (free version) and removed all tracking cookies it found. The problem did not go away so I decided to remove and reinstall firefox...this is where it got interesting. The only other browser I have installed is IE9 so I tried using it to download firefox again. When I clicked on the firefox download link it opened a new tab and immediantly froze and told me Internet Explorer has stopped working. So I am forced to close the tab. This error occurs when I try to download just about anything. I did manage to get Microsoft Security Essentials to download, however scanning with it produced no results. Thus I used another computer to download all the tools used for removal and transfered via flashdrive.

I am running an HP Pavilion g7 laptop 64bit Windows 7. 8 gig ram. I apologize if I am giving unecessary information but i figure better to give too much than not enough.

I am attaching the logs I recieved after performing the scans. The problem seems to have dissappeared as I have just been able to reinstall Firefox and am not having IE crash. However I will continue to moniter the situation and provide any updates. My main concern is knowing what I had, and how I got it so that me nor anyone I know encounters the same problem and that we can fix it if we have to. I plan on installing Komodo and using it on this laptop or possibly a AntiVirus program I can get for free from the Air Force such as Symantec or Norton.

Thank you for all your help and time,

    Joshua Smith

***UPDATE*** Upon trying to attach the files IE stopped working. I will transfer the files to another computor and attach them.

I am not finding any malware in your logs. I suggest you post in the software forum for additional assistance.

Since you are not having any malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
    2. Go back to step 4 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link
Malware removal from a National Chain = $149
Malware removal from MajorGeeks = $0
