AVG found a trojan and dealt with it, but It left its mark in my system restore files. I turned off the system restore on the drive in question.
    Does that delete the files?
If I turn it back on tomorrow, will the trojan return, or will it have been deleted?

    Thanks all...

When you turn off System Restore, it warns you that all saved files will be deleted. That SHOULD have gotten rid of the bad with the good.

Run a virus scan after killing restore if you want to put your mind at rest, but it should be gone.

Thanks GT. I was looking for that message, and it never showed. That's why I was concerned that they might not be gone. As for the virus scan, it won't pick it up in system restore for some reason, but it does pop up a warning every now and then. I'm going to turn it back on and see if the pop up comes back.

Just to be sure, Pewty, since the virus scanner seems to be neglecting the SR files, you might try this painless procedure: Go back to the Sys Restore controls and turn off SR for that drive by checking the OFF box, then click Apply and make sure you get the Warning popup. When you get it, OK your way out of there and reboot the computer, and the SVI folder for that drive will be empty as my tomb.

Then you might consider going back to the controls and re-enabling SR, if you use it for that drive. As soon as you UN-check the OFF box and click Apply, it'll generate a new RP1.

Thanks all. I also found that, if you run disk cleanup in system tools, it gives you the option (once you have run the search for deletable files) of deleting all but the last restore point.
