Virus is killing me and I can't stop it...

I got an msn virus a few weeks ago and nothing I've done has been able to fix my computer. The damn thing is messing up my internet connection (no email, no MSN, and now I bought Guild Wars and I can't connect to ArenaNet). I deactivated system restore (which the virus took care of anyway since it didn't work), and ran at least 8 up to date virus scanners. They were all useless.

Anyway here's my hijack this log, maybe somebody can help...

One more thing, the virus doesn't seem to work when I run my computer in safe mode with networking enabled (thus I can get into my email and stuff). Maybe that helps.

First, please follow ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

After doing ALL of the above if you still have a problem:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the ZIP file as your backups will not be safely stored.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gifBefore running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

Ok, as far as I can tell it seems to be gone. Gonna add the log just in case though. Thanks for the help.

 

The first thing that jumps out at me is that your running 2 antivirus programs. This is NOT recommend as they will cause conflicts on your computer. Pick one and uninstall the other.

Please download HOSTER and then follow the below steps.

• Unzip Hoster to a convenient folder such as C:\Hoster

• Run Hoster.exe, click Restore Original Hosts and then click OK.
• Click the X to exit the program.

Now, Scan with HJT and have it fix the below entry, be sure you close ALL browsers before clicking FIX.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Idri] C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\brec.exe

Download Pocket KillBox

Now, Copy and Paste C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\brec.exe into the box – If it exists, it will show up in Blue. Check the option to Delete on Reboot and Click the Red X and Yes to the confirmation message. A message will ask if you want to reboot now – Click YES.

Allow Killbox to reboot your system, after your computer has loaded procede with the next step.

Run CCleaner


After doing ALL of the above, Scan with HijackThis and attach the new log.
