Hi Folks, I have an Acer Aspire 6930 notebook, running Windows 10 Home, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5800@2.00GHz, 4gm RAM, 32 bit OS, x64-based processor.

I rebooted my computer after some routine maintenance (running CCleaner, malwarebytes-log attached, defragging hard drive, etc.) and it took longer than usual to reboot. After logging in, I noticed that my intertet was "not connected - no connections are available" and I was unable to even access my network settings. In addition, my windows firewall was disabled and I could not re-enable it, as was my real time protection from Avast.

I figured I had a virus or malware or something, and I tried opening malwarebytes, and it would not open. I got an error message stating "Internal Error: Expression Error 'Runtime error (at 112:109): Could not call proc.'" So I scheduled a boot time scan with Avast Free Antivirus, and rebooted. That scan found a couple of items, primarily related to an *** for rooting my phone. A screenshot of the Avast results is attached.

I thought when my computer rebooted that everything was fine, but after having it up and running for a few moments, I tested again by rebooting, and sure enough, a repeat of all of the symptoms listed above.

I hope that my description is sufficient, and I thank you in advance for your help.

    Sincerely,
    Tim

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Your problems do not appear to be due to malware based on the logs.

I suggest that you start by uninstalling Avast and SuperAntiSpyware and then reboot your PC. This is a test to see if they are some how responsible for your problems. We have seen Avast ( and other AV programs ) cause issues like this. And sometime uninstalling followed by a reboot shows problems have cleaned up.

It may be a good idea to remove Advanced SystemCare 8 too while testing this.

Thank you so much for your help! I uninstalled the 3 programs and I'll be damned, everything seems to be great! Thank you. To be clear, then, should I reinstall any of those programs or not? If not, then can you make an antivirus suggestion?

    Thanks again,
    Tim

You're welcome. Please read all of the below before doing anything.

Reinstall Avast and see how things are working for a couple days before adding anything else. Make sure that you have gone thru a few reboots and that you have all the most recent virus updates for Avast before you make other changes so that you can better judge how everything is working.

Personally I don't recommend system tweaker programs and especially registry cleaning as it is a very common cause of problems.

And let's clean up from running our Read & Run Me First before you reinstall Avast.

Since you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
