Virus / Malware....programs open automatically even after format and re-installation

    Hi, please help me with this one. Not really sure if its a Virus / Malware, but programs and internet explorer opens automatically and close, even after i decided to start all over and format c: and do a re-installation of windows XP.
    could you please have a look at my HijackThis log file and let me know what needs to be done please. Many thanks in advance.....rod

    EDIT: HijackThis log removed for 1st steps guide to be run.

    Hi and Welcome,

    Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support, they cover specific order of running the cleaning applications as HJT is a last resort and mop up program, Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.


    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

    Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.


    After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis


    When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
    • Bitdefender
    • Panda Scan
    • HijackThis

    Hi there, have found the problem. Will you believe thats its actually a faulty mouse!!!! Have spent about 20 hours trying to sort this "virus" out. Well at least I know what the "virus" is now.
