Virus on my computer, can't get rid of it.

Firstly, I must say, well done virus. I have a respect for it, even though I despise it with all my heart.

I don't know what it is, I'm sure its not spyware as it hasn't put anything on my desktop etc.

These are the symptoms:

AVG Virus scanner has been disabled and actually deleted off the PC by this masterpiece of a virus.

Control panel is now "not found" and deleted off of my start menu.

Depending on when the last time I used the PC was, I only get a limited time on it. For example, after a certain amount of time, it simply freezes. I manually turn it off, and if I turn it right back on again, the screen simply doesn't come back on. If I wait 5 mins, it will turn on but freeze after about a minute. If I wait several minutes, it turns on and freezes after about 15 minutes. Leave it a day, it will last 20 mins. Left it 4 days, it lasted about 35/40 mins. So far, its been off again for about 3 days. It seems the longer you leave it off, the longer it takes for the virus to freeze my computer up again.

Ther computer will freeze regardless of what mode you're in i.e. Normal, Safe, Last known time it worked, etc, etc.


Anyone know what this virus is? Am I gubbed? I'm fairly sure that if I leave it off another day or 2 I will get a good 40/50 mins use out of it, so if anyone has any websites that would be of use then I'll try them.

Also, I have tried system restore once, but the computer froze half way through and messed it up for a week or so, so I'm scared to do that again.

Any help appreciated.

P.s. The computer works fine apart from mentioned above, I just don't have access to control panel.
