    Hi group,
I have concluded by the input I've received from talking to my techie friends that I probably have a virus on my laptop that my norton internet security 2005 can't seem to find. The symptoms are that different groups of keys on my keyboard will not work. Right now, the "w" "s" "x" and "2" will not work. I've tried replacing the keyboard and this did not help.

One suggestion was to restart my computer using F8, select safe mode and then run my antivirus software. I tried this, but my norton antivirus program would not open up. I'm not sure why this program doesn't find the virus. It seems to also interfere with my outlook express as well. I'd appreciate any recommendations!! Thanks, Mike

thanks for the checklist...i am 99% sure i have a virus, however, before i run your checklist, i'd like to know if there is a straightforward way to double check and make sure my problem is not a hardware one with my keyboard. i'm traveling now so i don't have a boot disk. can you suggest a way to test my keyboard with no boot disk or other accessories. thanks!!!!! Mike
