    Hi!

    I'm wondering if my computer is at risk from a scan result I just completed.

    I use Adware and Spybot S&D scans every other day, Spyware Blaster, AVG AntiVirus (scans are completed everytime a new update is issued) and ZoneAlarm Firewall are installed.

    I noticed that my computer was slow to boot up and windows are very slow to open. My AVG AntiVirus scan didn't pick anything up, so I went to Symantec and used their free "Virus Detection" scan. It didn't offer a removal tool, just the details;

    It detected;
    C:\WINDOWS\cpbrkpie.ocx is infected with Adware.CouponAge

    If this is bad, please let me know if there's an easy way I can get rid of this. I'm not that skilled with the computer. Should I take it in to a shop to get this out?

    Thank you!
    :D

    Never take it to the shop, why would you want to pay someone to do it when you can get professional help from certified technicians here for FREE??;)

    Download Pocket KillBox

    Now, Copy and Paste C:\WINDOWS\cpbrkpie.ocx into the box – If it exists, it will show up in Blue. Check the option to Delete on Reboot and Click the Red X and Yes to the confirmation message. A message will ask if you want to reboot now – Click YES.

    Now allow Killbox to reboot your system, after windows has loaded attach a fresh HJT to make sure nothing is hiding.

    Hi! Thanks for your suggestion! And free at that! lmao

    I will try the link you provided me. As for the HJT, that's a Highjack This log, I think? I've read about something like that on this forum, and found it kinda confusing. Might be a little outta my comprehension, lol. Perhaps I'll try another Symantec scan afterwords to see if it still shows this .

    Thanks for your professional free help!
    ;)

    PS.
    If I attempt the HJT and I cause the computer to crash, is the professional help still free?
    snicker snicker
    just kidding
    ;)

    I ran Symantecs Virus scanner again after using Pocket KillBox, and the
    "C:\WINDOWS\cpbrkpie.ocx is infected with Adware.CouponAge"
    thing no longer shows in the scan results.

    Thank you for your help!

    Your HJT log is clean except for this one ActiveX Control.

    Scan with HJT again and place a check next to the below entry and then click FIX. Remember before you click FIX you must have ALL browsers closed.

    O16 - DPF: {9522B3FB-7A2B-4646-8AF6-36E7F593073C} (cpbrkpie Control) - http://a19.g.akamai.net/7/19/7125/1435/ftp.coupons.com/v3123/cpbrkpie.cab

    After removing the above entry you will be clean, are you having any further problems?

    It's good to know that my log is clean. I did as you asked with the ActiveX Control deletion. Here is my latest HJT log. Thanks so much for your patience and clear detailed instructions. I appreciate ALL your help!
    ;)

    I don't have any more questions or problems (as of yet, lol) but I certainly know that I'll come here first! Thanks so much!
