virus or something else??

Hi all,

I have been here before and you guys have been great help ~ thanks!!

Recently I have been having problems getting/staying online. I have been having to restart several times a day. I called my ISP thinking it might be my modem ~ couldn't find any problem.

I uninstalled zone alarm because I thought that might be it ~ no luck.

I started having trouble with AVG ~ unable to DL updates and errors not finding files. I got rid of AVG and tried Avast. I am now getting errors from avast stating cannot find files.

Tonight I am going to do all of the steps you guys suggest ( I should know them by heart by now).

I think something might be corrupted. If this is a virus I contracted it while using AVG and Zone alarm.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Insufficient info to go on!

Make sure you follow ALL the steps and refer to the current READ ME FIRST. It does change over time and lately I have seen a lot of people saying they ran it only to find out they ran it from a saved local list. Also make sure all of your scanners are updated. When finished running those steps, if you still have a problem, follow the steps below exactly:

- Download HijackThis 1.99.1

- Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

- Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

- Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

- Run HijackThis and save your log file.

- Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).
