was goin through some old files on my computer and opened one which ticked off the system.. slowed it down quite a bit all day. eventually, i got the 'watson' message and on a later reboot, the comp came back up and my panda anti-virus blocked lsass.exe from connecting. i blocked the connection, but the comp is still lagging. i ran 3 different antivirus packages and many removal tools, and they all are picking up that it is not infecting my computer.

is there any registration keys that i need delete.. or files i can delete? i did a search for lsass.exe on my main drive and came up with 2 located in the folders C:\WINDOWS\system32 and C:\WINDOWS\Servicepackfiles\i386.

    any help would be great.
    thanks

My computer is running well and I have both of those files in the same locations. If your anti virus programs are up to date and saying your not infected I should accept it an look elsewhere to solve your problem.

If it is still blocked see what happens when unblocking it. I think there was a virus that put a file much like that into an OS but as I say I am alright with the same files.

Do you have all critical updates installed for SP1 or have you upgraded to SP2 if you're using WinXP?

yeah, all upgrades are good.. picked up sp2 a couple weeks ago. whatever this thing is, it ticked off my media players and such...

was lookin around the task manager and came across this.. anybody have any ideas?
    MSSYMSGR.EXE
i've searched google and msn and forums and found nothing.. i ended the task and i seem to be movin a little better, but it freed up some much needed memory so that could be it..

ran panda av again, spybot twice, adaware twice, bazooka... still no reports.

By the initials it might be something to do with "Messinger" THere is a site that tells what all the services are but all I can remember is BlackViper. Try a Google search and it might bring it up or even try a search here as it is well known.
