    Hi,

So I had this huge infection. Start menu disabled (cannot click any programs in start menu > program), all exe files infected, html infected, fake sophus antivirus, infinite loop at chkdsk at start up before the welcome screen for my xp unless manually stop the chkdsk, and numerous other problems.

Basically, i figured its hopeless to get rid of these problems and haven't used this laptop for 6 months and now wanted a clean install.

I bought the student Win 7 and installed it fine on my good desktop. Today, I converted the .exe install file to the iso file and made a USB boot disc from that win 7 iso file.

And when I tried to do a clean install from the boot disc on my infected laptop, it says The file or directory is corrupted or unreadable. and would just stop the installation....

Would this be a virus problem still within the old OS?

    Please help
