    Hi folks !!!
For a few weeks back, i had been experiencing some ads popping up while im surfing. It just simply directs me to an ad page. I didnt notice the address of that, but the page has a "Click Here To Skip This Ad" appearing on the top right corner of the page.
I ran the Read & Run Me Procedure,, Bitdefender found a trojan named : Trojan.DOS.FormatHDD.B
Im sure that my PC is still infected. Cos i use Avast AV , the free edition, and havent been getting any updates lately. When i click on the Web Shield option, avast shows nothing , even though i have webpages opened. Not like before, when i opened a homepage, it shows in the Web Shield option. I assume that its the trojan which is controlling this.

And also, even though i use CCleaner, there still seem to be something left in the History. Its not completely clean. Lets say, when i open a new browser, and just type the letter "s" ,, it shows a few links. I would like to get rid of these completely.

Please help,, below r my scan results.

PS : For some reason, i cant upload my ActiveScan log, it says i have already attached this log in my previous post. ,, But that was months ago.
Anyway, im gonna copy and paste it here then.

Your logs do not show any malware. What you saw in BitDefender is just something in System Restore and the only way to remove that is by toggling system restore off and then back on.

Perhaps your problem with Avast is just that your 1 year trial expired.

I did notice the below programs installed which are not the current versions. You should uninstall them and installed the current versions.
    Ad-aware 6 Professional
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9

As per ur suggestion, i installed and updated ad-aware , and removed J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9.
Its a relief to hear that my system is clean for now. That said, one problem remains. As i mentioned earlier, my history cache is not totally clean, i still see some links when i type a letter in a new IE browser. I would like to get rid of those. I use CCleaner, but the links r still there. Wondering if theres any other program or tool that would do the work which CCleaner has not been able to do.

Kindly let me know. Thanx for looking into my problems. :) :) :)

Well first this is not a malware problem!

Second those are not part of History! They are recently typed URLs and you probably have that unchecked in Ccleaner's list of things to clean.

You're welcome! Did you find the option I mentioned and did that fix what you were complaining about?

I opened CCleaner, and that option u mentioned was already checked by default. And it seems that my history isnt really clean. Cos when i open a new browser, choose the History option, and type a letter in the Search Now option, a few urls shows up.

I dont know what is this, but i would appreciate it if u could enlighten me. And i wouldnt lie, i do visit porn sites, and most of the urls in the history list r porn links.

First let me ask a question, when you run CCleaner, what version number shows on the top next to CCleaner.com

Second did you just run Ccleaner prior to look at the History?

In fact open one and only one IE browser session now and do the below.
    • And click the History icon to show History (if not already showing).
    • Note what shows in the History.
    • Now leave the browser open and run CCleaner and make sure Internet Explorer History & Recently Tped URLs are both checked
    • Now click the Run Cleaner button.
    • Now back in your IE window click Refresh.
    • Only the current page which you justt refreshed should show.

Well ... i think i have the latest version Ccleaner. Its v1.36.430. And IE history and Recent Typed URLs option r checked by default.

Followed the steps u provided., and yes it only shows the current refreshed page. But when i use the Search option within the History Panel, i still see some links there. Im afraid its spyware or something, cos when i right-click on them and choose Delete, nothing happens, they r just glued there.
I did once try to click open them, it leads me to some unknown site.

    That's the current version!

I don't see the problems you are mentioning and no malware showed in your logs to be concerned with. I'm not exactly sure what you are seeing in history but once you run CCleaner it should be empty other than what you are currently accessing. Perhaps you should have Ccleaner delete index.dat files and see what happens.

After running CCleaner, if you go to the below folder using explorer, what do you see:

    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\History

Replace username with your actual user account login name. Based on your other logs I assume this would be Pelle

Ok. finally managed to clean my history completely. This is what i have done.. As per ur suggestion, i went to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\History, but the History folder was clean, so i looked into the Temp folder, and found quite a few items there. But i coulnt delete or move them. So i logged off and logged into 2nd username, and i was able to remove from there. And now ,my history is as clean as ever.

Couldnt have done this without ur help and suggestions. U guys r the best !!!;)
Thanx once again ...for ur time and patience !!! :) :) :)
