Virus Question: Trojan & Downloader

    Each day I update my virus software, so I do not know why it didn't catch these in time. A friend of mine got the same ones, and delete attachments from my email, but we went to a website and ever since we have had problems.

    Not sure where I got it from? And I went through the process of getting rid of them ~ step by step that Norton gave, and they are gone from the quarantine. Does that mean they are gone for good? (stupid question) but it took me forever (until 3 am) and I am so sick of going through the process again and again. Did the regedit, virus def., and the like.

    Trojan.Ducky.B
    Downloader

    **I thought you could only get a virus/trojan if you opened up attachments? And I now know there is other ways, what are those ways? It isn't possible if you went to a website~would it?

    Updating and antivirus program does not necessarily mean you will find a problem that may already exist. Normal recommend procedures from an antivirus company would be to run a FULL system scan after each update.

    It only means you removed whatever was in the quarantine. If they trojan is still elsewhere on your PC, then Norton may find it again and add it to the quarantine again. If it is not doing a complete job on finding and removing it then it may keep on returning.

    Not true!

    You can get virus and trojans in many different ways. Yes just going to a website can infect you. Downloading files, running the files, viewing the files (like PFF files), viewing images, ..... basically malware constantly evolves to find ways to infect you. Thus there are quite a few ways to get infected and that is why PCs require proper protection and the person using the PC requires proper education.
