    I ran a program (scanner) called Belarc Advisor. In the scan it told me that I have two anti-virus programs running. The first was Authentium AntiVirus Version 4.305 and that realtime scanning was on. I have never knowingly loaded this program on my computer. Never heard of it until this scan. The other scanner was AVG Anti-Virus Free which I did download and use. In researching Authentium I learned that this program is really a virus. One of the solutions to getting rid of this virus was to go through your site. In a couple of the scans Authentium came up as running and needed to be shut down. Of course, I can't find it to shut it down. I have run a search on my c:\ drive to look for it without any luck. I have run all of your suggested scans and am attaching the log files as requested. Thanks for your help.

    Re: Attached scanner files. I was not sure what to do on Root Repeal so I saved each tab individually also. If the supplied log file for Root Repeal does not contain all of the tabs I can send the individual ones in another attachment. Thanks

    Do you know what these are:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Mark Peacock\Local Settings\Application Data\PackageAware ( Print driver??)
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Voyetra (This may be a sound driver??)
    If you don't know, delete them.

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    SecCenter::
    {A4E803B3-4E6E-4271-B1CD-56FBC0992D36}

    Registry::
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\session manager]
    "PendingFileRenameOperations"=""

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder\C:^Documents and Settings^All Users^Start Menu^Programs^Startup^MyWebSearch Email Plugin.lnk]

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder\C:^Documents and Settings^Mark Peacock^Start Menu^Programs^Startup^MyWebSearch Email Plugin.lnk]

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the prvevious file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Wrong. It is a legit program often bundled together with ISP software.

    I'm not sure what the "package aware" is. I use a HP printer. I'll try deleting it. The other (Voyetra) I'm pretty sure is a part of my Turtle Beach Sound Card software. The other things you suggested I'll start with. Thanks for the help.

    Kestrl, I can't find this Authentium on my HD. I wonder if it is just a one line listing in my Registry. Like an orphan line. I can't remember which site I was on that told me it was a virus, but they sent me here to find the fix for it. The thing that bothers me is that the Belarc scan says that Authentium's real time scanning is on. While running through this whole process with trying to identify my viruses Authentium came up as running an needed to be shut down. Since I can't find it I can't shut it down. Thanks for the information at least I know it is not a virus. I sure would like to find it and shut it down or remove it completely.

    Tim,
    I have run the combofix and mgtools programs and am attaching the two files you requested. Both of the two files you asked about (PackageAware and Voyetra) were both empty file folders which I deleted. Everything seems to be working properly with my computer. I really appreciate all the work.:major

    Your logs are clean but for these:
    C:\EZ ANTIVIRUS --> you should not have a second AV program installed.
    C:\Program Files\YourWare Solutions --> no idea what this is.

    And as Kes pointed out, you must have software from your ISP:
    FW: Authentium Firewall *enabled

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real-time protection. They are useful as backup scanners.They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to tahe cleaning procedures ian step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore ato create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    Tim,
    Thanks a whole bunch for all your help. I will delete the EZ Antivirus program. I did not have it running. I copies from a small HD that I wanted to use as an external HD for pagefiles. I think the YourWare Solutions is PKUnzip, but I will look into it. I run the rest of the uninstalls now. Again thanks for your help.
