Well, sign shop is not open yet, but I need $, so did some work on their office computers. Had one machine that was challenging. Tried using Avast with a boot scan, the computer would not boot until unplugged, plugged back in, and rebooted. No boot scan would work on the box. Have never seen that.

I know we have the Malware section, and they do a great job. This is just a new one on me. I took care of it, gotta love hot swapable SATA drives. This is a new one on me. If the virus has the boot controlled, ouch, for the average person.

And Thanks to the MajorGeeks site for the downloads I needed to debug the network. :major

    Hi Fred

Personally I think the Read and Run me in the Malware section is the way to go, even if its just for the scans it does and if the basic scans do not clear the issue up then the unique MG scans and the other logs are worth posting i the malware section.

But to go it manually the options I would use are

AS you have already done in using a good AV
    Use MalwareByyes and SuperAnti Spyware
Scan with Combofix and Rootrepeal (both in the Read ME Malware Guide)
Use maybe Avira BootSector repair Tool

But I would go the malware route guide from here and if its not cleared post the logs requested.
