Laurie, dont put them on manual, use diabled, as windows tends to like to start services you have on manual just to piss you off :p

If you can write all the service names into a word or text file and mail it to me, i will quickly scan it and tell you which you can disable safely.

Also a lot of those services look to be program you un-installed. Maybe its time to goto Control Panel--> Add/Remove Programs and get rid of the ones you dont need.

As an Example, here are my list of services i use, and my task manager.

You cant damage anything by disabling a service, as you can just start it up again if something stops working after you do it.

laurieB No need to worry about un-installing AOL (version 7.0, at least). I've done it a few times.:p Make sure you keep a current copy of your favourites. Backup your PFC, after compacting it. Bazza

laurieB. What version of AOL are you using. I use v7.0 UK version, not USA or OZ versions.

    If you are using AOL,
click on email, top left of screen
then on Personal Filing Cabinet (PFC from here on)
It should open up in the Email tab, if not click on Email.
Click on any emails you can't remember what they were about and re-read if necessary.
When you click on any email if opens up the option to "delete" it.
Work through all your emails, if you want to, and delete those you don't wish to keep.
At bottom right of email screen, you will see "manage PFC"
Click on this, and an option box appears.
    Backup, Restore or Compact.
Press Compact and it will "compact" your PFC, to take up less room.
Then run "backup" option, to save your PFC. Bazza

i don't use AOL. i use yahoo. AOL was preinstalled. i simply deleted the shortcut for AOL and Norton and ignored them. i have been told more than once that these programs are spread throughout the system and removing them often causes problems. since I'm not short of 'space' i just left them alone. i will deal with the processes first and then post up my program list and delete the unnecessary ones on by one. PS. good morning peeps. aloha.
