viruses all dead, now network will not start

ipconfig /renew

-> an error occurred while renewing interface local area connection 2 : the system cannot find the file specified.

I do not know what file winxp is refering to.

background:

major viral eradication: adaware - spybot - norton av2005
repair option selected from winxp cd boot
add home network selected from winxp setup
uninstall lan device, install lan device

When the parasites install them self in addition of the files they create hooks in the system directing to the Junk. When you get rid of the Junk the hooks might stay and in the absence of the target files creates problems in the system.

In most cases it is Winsock problem and the Layer Service might be involved too.

Try to use these two programs.

exactly wha ti was going to say before i read this post. i had the same problem. it killed my network. thne i did both of these and it works as it should.
