Vista 32bit, no sound output

    Hi, im working on a computer that has vista 32 bit, in windows i can change volume, check audio devices, and it shows that vista is playing music.

    but i get absolutely no audio out, not with speakers nor headphones :S
    fast help appreciated.

    First, if you're using Windows Media Player to play the music, make sure WMP is not muted; you can mute WMP independent of the main audio. Second, make sure the audio output is set for the speakers you're using; it may be set for "Digital Output" or "SPDIF Interface" or something else (see screen shot attached); you can easily access these settings by right-clicking on the little speaker icon in the system tray down by the clock, then select "Playback Devices"; make sure to use the selections appropriate to your situation as highlighted in red in the attached screen shot. 3rd, a bit of info about your hardware would be helpful (make/model of motherboard and/or sound card). 4th, what does it show in the Device Manager under Sound, Video, and Game Controllers?

    (screen shot is from Win7 X64 but I believe it is more-or-less identical in Vista 32bit)
