Taking the advice of MajorGeeks, I downloaded the above because when I tried to play a store-bought DVD on my computer, I got a message that I did not have a video decoder installed. Once it was installed, I got a beautiful DVD picture, but no sound. I have all my other sound as usual, just no sound while the DVD is playing. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi, I develop the Vista Codec packages.

Your sig says you have XP SP2 MCE 2005.
yet your topic title speaks about the x64 package which will only install on Vista x64. To assist you further, I would need to know your full operating system.

If it is an x64 version of Vista, and not Premium or Ultimate Editions, then you need to visit the Homepage to get my personal edition of Media Player Classic to play DVD's.

Also, you should install the Vista Codec Package (32bit) AFTER removing all other codec installations for the 32bit players to function properly. By default, Vista uses a 32bit version of Windows Media Player.

Choose a custom install and deselect things you already have installed such as QuickTime.

I am sorry, Shark 007, but I am really a dunce. It is, in fact, the Vista Codec Package that I installed, not the Vista Codec X64. I am very uninformed concerning codecs. I don't even know how to identify a "codec installation," so I don't know for sure what to remove (I do have Quick Time). Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated! Thanks. No, I don't have Vista; I do have XP with Media Center 2005.

I released v444 today to correct an MP3 issue in 443

After removing all codecs, reboot, and install version 444

I did the things you advised, and still no sound with the picture. I couldn't find 444, so I installed 443. All my other sound works fine.

Just a note to bring you up to date: I found version 444 and installed it. No change. Still getting a DVD picture but no sound, although I have sound from other sources.
