    Hey Guys.

I recently had ZeroAccess infect my computer and mess up a bunch of stuff.
Thanks to Thisisu in the Malware Removal Forum all traces of it have been removed and my 'logs are clean'.

I still have many things wrong with Vista such as...
No audio - 'The audio service is not running' is displayed in the taskbar.
Very slow accessing any folder within Vista (30secs to load).
None of the USB ports recognise a flash drive (nothing appears in My Computer)
When accessing Device Manager via the Control Panel it is completely empty.

To make matters worse, I have no system restore points and no form of backup like the Windows Vista disc.

If anyone can assist it will be much appreciated.

    Many Thanks,
    whammybar

I would look at doing a factory reset.
You should try the option of "Restore Operating System and Retain User Data". You should still back up all of your important data if something goes wrong. Programs may have to be reinstalled.

After the OS is reinstalled, you may have to go through the same procedure and select "Reinstall Drivers or Applications" and select the Drivers you need. If you still have problems, then do a complete factory reset.

If the above cannot be done within windows, you can try to do it at boot up.

Again: Backup all data of "Users".

Another route you may want to try before doing something like a factory reset is uninstalling Vista Service Pack 2. See if your system becomes stable if you are on Service Pack 1. If so, you can either stick with SP1 (not really recommended) or try to download and install Vista SP2 to upgrade from SP1. Then see if stabilized.

    Hope this helps
