I have been asked to work on an Lenovo Thinkpad running Windows Vista Home Premium. The system locks up during the loading phase of startup. I have diagnosed the problem to being the file that loads after crcdisk.sys loads. All the resources I have seen say the fix for this is a repair/reinstall of the O.S. This particular system has a partition dedicated for repair. I tried booting into the repair partition and the system freezes as soon as the 'Think' screen appears(with the lifesaver). I have tried a repair from an actual Vista repair disk. The system again freezes as soon as a background image appears with a mouse pointer, however the mouse pointer does move about. With this problem I am neither able to repair nor reinstall the O.S. If someone has any advice all is welcome at this stage. PC Is still under hardware warranty.

Your description sounds like you have a hardware problem. I'd get Lenovo repair involved before the warranty expires.
