Vista is adding files when "copy"/'sent to" is used

This has been going on for a while. I have no other computer issue so I don't think its malware/virus. I am running vista 64bit.

Every time I use "copy" or "sent to" to move a file to say a usb drive, external drive, or even a CD, its add a copy of my music folder and one artist file folder and contents to the destination target. Its always the same folder and files. And it does not matter what type of file I am moving, it doesn't have to anything music related.

Does anyone have a idea on how to stop this? Its driving me crazy, every time I copy something I have to delete this from the destination folder.

New one on me but first off I'd try renaming the one artist folder. See if that helps or if it just creates an error.

Agreed with Earthling: strange symptoms.

You might also try:

1. Replicate the procedure when booted to Safe Mode - any change in symptoms?.

2. I'm wondering if this might be a "memory lock" issue - try opening notepad and typing a few characters, then highlighting that text and copying it. Close, then re-open notepad and paste the text - any problems? Then try your folder copying sequence - any change in symptoms?

3. Make sure we've got our nomenclature correct - there's a big difference between 'copying' and 'moving' a file or folder.
