    Hi folks,

My wife has a Vista machine that she's been using at work. The network where she works belongs to a small school. We know that many machines on that network have various infections, but the school hasn't wanted to do anything to correct the problem.

This computer was reloaded in April after it got some nasties on it. I set it back up running OnlineArmor, Avast, and Adaware.

The computer stopped loading facebook. wouldn't allow me to go to run trend micro housecall. I was able to run Panda and it did find a few things.

    A few that I remember are au.exe, bu.exe. cu.exe. ip.dll, mach.exe.

I had removed online armor and installed comodo at the beginning of this last round of troubleshooting and it came up and said that the following programs were running and trusted. We couldn't find any of these in add/remove programs nor any folders for them.

headlight, smart projects, smart soft, comet network tech, speed-bit software, imesh, bittorrent.

I ran Read and Run Me First and here's what I have for logs. I hope I got them all out of their respective hiding spots

I went looking for my HJT log and the entire HJT folder is no longer on the computer. I did find a folder that was not previously there called Qoobox.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

You are not having malware problems. You will need to post your problems about FireFox in the Software Forum. I suggest you include and Event Viewer log which may identify reasons for the crash.

It is just the quaratine folder from ComboFix. Hopefully you did not delete it since we need to restore 2 files for your BroadCom hardware that ComboFix incorrectly deleted. The below will restore them.

Now we need to use ComboFix to restore 2 files.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Then attach the C:\DeQuarantine_log.txt that ComboFix should create.
