VISTA-OUTLOOK password

I have existing ISP email accounts that I have been using successfully on a Dell Inspiron running XP.
Recently I bought a new desktop pc which is running Vista, I have now set up my old email accounts in Outlook (note, not Outlook Express) but when I select send/receive it prompts me for passwords for each account.
Once entered I get the ,failed to connect message,
I then reselect 'send/receive' and it works
The accounts are set within Outlook with the passwords and the 'remember password' check box ticked.
The pc is connected via a router to the web but then so is the laptop which is still untroubled.

Any ideas?
