Vista PC loads internet very slowly

    But my Mac laptop works fine with the modem. I just got it today as a replacement for one that died in a storm. It is a cable modem, hooked directly into the cable jack on the wall.

    The PC runs Windows Vista, and is a HP Pavillion. It's only about a year old, and worked fine with the last modem I had. It's loading so slowly that no pages will fully load, so I can't even test the connection speed. AIM times out while signing on.
