Vista Premium to Business?

Microsoft's site doesn't mention it, but can Vista Premium be upgraded to Business? Their chart indicates that Premium can go to Ultimate.

The reason I ask is that a client of mine needs to install some medical software but its only guaranteed to work on Vista Business and makes no mention of Ultimate (I assume it will work since Ultimate is a step up, but you never know...)

 

Well they're work PC's so none of the Premium features are necessary (and I don't think anyone in the office is too computer literate anyways rolleyes )

Anyways, I called support but they're useless. They won't talk to you if you don't have a customer # and the only way to get one is to buy the product, lol! The sales people don't answer the phone. Yay.

 

I wouldn't buy that product then...there's probably a similar program out there that has better customer support.

Vista is Vista. Business doesn't have anything that Ultimate does not.



So, Home Premium cannot go to Business. Ultimate is your only chance for business features at an upgrade price.

 

Ultimate is OK.

Will that detect that Premium is installed and then simply upgrade?

I just hope this guy didn't go out and buy XP Pro like the software people told him.

 

It is exactly the same price doing it online through the anytime upgrade from MS. So convenience and time wasted waiting for the shipped product need be taken into consideration too.

Do it online through MS.

Right click on Computer, go to Properties, and choose upgrade windows vista at the top.

 

MS stopped the online anytime upgrade thing... TODAY lol

 

The sales people decided to call me back... Contrary to what I found on another site, they said it wasn't tested on Ultimate. Friggin piece of crap! I hate Vista and this whole mess.

 

Interesting. I wonder if it has to do with SP1 being ready for production.

TBH, I'd be really surprised if it didn't work on Ultimate. As mentioned before, Vista is Vista.

I don't like using it. Maybe I will learn to like it when I upgrade my gaming rig to Vista. I just want DX10 action.

Anyways, I found a support forum for the software and someone said they hadn't tested it on Ultimate b/c Microsoft only provided them with the Business version. He went on to say that it should work and that they're expecting a copy of Ultimate with SP1 shortly.

Time to go tell the doctor that he needs to throw down an additional $480 for 3 copies of Vista Ultimate!!
