vista problem

When I download an email link to a wmv file-I click open or save and can't open the file. I can't even find it in downloads. Can anyone help me to figure out why this funciton is not working?

 

There are several other places you might look, other than your Downloads folder. The files might be saved to another folder, depending on the media player you use, and/or the website from which you download them. For example, I often download movies from a number of different websites, and they end up either in my Downloads folder, my Videos folder, my Public Videos folder, or my RealPlayer Downloads folder.

 

These are email wmv's that accomany funny bits friends send to me on the net. On my last computer they opened automatically. Is there something I can download that will allow me to do this?

 

Try updating you windows media player to the latest one to see if that works if not then you can give vlc media player a try.

Totally off the subject, but a word of warning for you. Even though these emails come from "friends," be very careful about opening attachments to emails because occasionally they appear to come from people we know, but in actual fact, they are actually very wicked viruses and other malware.
