    Hi
I just got fed up with my laptop being slow on vista, and I am going to install XP on it.
There is one feature that I will miss from vista though, and it is the live search feature. I like being able do shortcuts like: windows key, then type "paint" then press enter to open paint.

Is there any way to replicate the same thing in xp?
I have tried Copernic Desktop Search 2 and Google Desktop, but neither of them can search for exe's like vista's can.

Please give me any advice you have,
    Thank you in advance.

    Try SlickRun from http://www.bayden.com/SlickRun/

It creates a little box that you can place anywhere on your screen.

You can then setup "MagicWords" in SlickRun (very similar to normal Shortcuts). "X" gives me Excel, "myd" for My Documents, "mye" for my customised My Explorer, "exe" for the normal Explorer, "opera" goes to my browser (Opera), "fd" goes to my external 10 gig hard drive to F:\downloads\2008 etc.

You get the idea. The beauty of this is that the "shortcuts" do not clutter up your desktop but are instantly available. You can also set it up to go to websites, "google" goes to Google. (doh) :D

My favourite program and I hate using a PC that does not have it installed. So much more productive with SlickRun than without it.

If you need help setting it up (but it is really simple) send me a PM.

    Bazza
