vista service pack2 loaded, now computer reboots

    i recently installed vista service pack 2 on a dell laptop and now the machine continues to reboot. after rebooting it goes to the selection screen for safe mode, last known good etc. you know the one. no matter what i choose it never shows the vista bar showing the OS loading. It just restarts and goes back to that menu screen

    any ideas?
