Is there any way to view the results when disk defrag is finished?

Open a command prompt as admin and enter 'defrag C: -a' w/o the quotes. You'll get a verbose description of it's status. This is real shoddy work on MS's part, hopefully SP1 will fix this lack of info.

I think MS is kind of phasing the manual defrag out of the O/S altogether; at least in theory, Vista defrags the hard drive slowly in the background whenever the system is idle. In theory. ;)

Did some reading and I see what you mean so no SP1 'fix' for this. I'll grab the trial of PerfectDisk and see if I'm willing to pay for it, otherwise I'll just schedule defrag when I'm sleeping as this rig is on 24/7. Thanks for the heads up.
