My Vista HP control panel has an applet called Program Updates. I guess it's purpose was to monitor for updates to installed software but it doesn't work. Is this a standard feature in Vista HP, or might it be a preinstalled OEM addition? If standard, should it be working?

Hi Earthling. My Compaq latpop running Vista HP has it. I'm not sure whether it's a standard feature in Vista. I think it may be something installed by HP (Hewlett Packard) in my case, or by other manufacturers; in other words, as you said, an OEM addition.

When you say it doesn't work, exactly what do you mean? Does it not open when you double click on it?

If I open my Program Updates panel, one of the screens has a link to http://consumer.installshield.com/, which may shed some light.
