I just bought the hp dv625se laptop, with vista home premium I cant seem to conect to the internet using the linksys wrk54g router. I have two more computers that connect wireless with no problems. It says it finds the router, shows the signal as excellent but "access:limited connectivity". I also have 16-bit WEP encryption, so i thought maybe the new hp doesnt support it so i disabled encryption and i still couldnt logon to the unsecured network.
Does anybody know what the problem is??? or how to set it up??

    thanks

just a thought, but the router that use is a linksys wrk54 and it only has one antenna. U could say its a cheap version of the wrt54 router. But i was fooling around with the laptop and the HP wireless assistant says it cant find any supported router. do u think maybe vista doesnt support this router or maybe it need a firmware upgrade???

    thanks
ps sorry for the double message before

Nothing is wrong wit the Router if it works with other computers.

Routers are independent device and it is nothing to do with Vista compatibility.

You probably cannot connect because your new computer does not match the Router settings, and the new computer Wireless has to be reconfigured.

Could be that Vista Firewall blocks the connection.

Could be that two Wireless mangers are running in memory.

    May be this can Help.

on my network i have 64 bit wep encryption, i think microsoft allows only 128 bit wep, do u think maybe that is the interference?? Cause when i try to log on it says maybe the wep key is wrong or signal is weak and i know thats now the case cause i'm in the same room

    thanks

If you can, ditch the WEP, and go for WPA, which is more secure. Also, Third Party software for the WR series works better.

well i live in a small neighborhood, and i got wep so that noone random can log into my network. I know wep can easily be hacked into but i doubt any of my neighbors will sit and go through the process, their all old ahah

    thanks
