If its NEW BM, I'm confident its going to be fine mine was, just needed to wait for ASUS or MARVELL to upgrade a SATA/RAID driver, but that wasnt an issue as the MOBO had INTEL SATA/RAID and MARVELL so I was set, noticed today MARVELL have released drivers so updated and have none outstanding.

    WHY?

I've not come across any showstoppers as yet, most quirks are down to lack of updates for 3rd party companies drivers or software, not a Microsoft problem as these companies had near on a year to finalise their applications.

At present for me runs no better or no worse than XP, if you expect it to be buggy why use it stick with tried and tested with 2 service packs XP?

Keep in mind I have stupid on my forehead ( hard to see under my bangs) first thing I usually do when I get new software is go to the site and see if there are download updates, drivers, patches, etc. Would this apply?

You can run Vista Advisor to see what your machine can handle and take it from there. You have to have 2K or XP for it to run.

Keep an eye on your usb ports. I bought the vista business retail a about three weeks ago and sent off for the 64 bit version for ten dollars (got it couple days ago).

Anyway, after running the 32 bit version for ten days or so I noticed that the four usb ports on my dell 2405 monitor were not functioning. On boot up, windows would try to activate them and come back with a 'malfunction' error message. Since I had a dual boot with xp pro, I booted to xp and everything worked as advertised (I run my bluetooth kb and mouse, joystick and printer off my monitor).

Kinda freaked me alittle since they all worked fine for a week and a half with vista business 32 bit. Clean install did no good. Fortunately, when I installed vista business 64 bit (which I'm using now) everythings back working as it should be. I'm very impressed with vista.

Oh, one quick question: The 64 bit version comes with a 32 bit and a 64 bit IE browser with the 64 bit as default. Some web site aren't set up for 64 bit browsers and I was wondering if someone could tell me how to make the 32 bit browser default?

Well lets see. I have Vista Home Premium on my laptop that I use on public networks and my school's network and I have been Virus, hacker, spyware, trojan, and adware free since install. Same thing goes for my desktop that is directly connected to the internet with no extra security installed aside from Avast AV. Proud to be using it since launch.

I just want to add to this due to another thread regarding it, sorta. Its not a replacement for doing your own homework. It gives you a general idea, but is not 100% accurate.

The one for XP wasn't either.

Hey guys, thx for ignoring this completely. Really puts out a 'warm and fuzzy' kinda camaraderie. Was just relaying something that happened to me and in the process maybe getting some helpful advice in return. Don't bother replying (like there would be a chance of that) I won't be checking anymore. Sorry to have wasted your bandwidth.

It's easy for things questions to be looked over in the lounge. If you have a problem, make a new post in the software section and someone should be able to help you there. But, how about you just create a shortcut for IE32 on your desktop instead of using IE64?

If you had any common sense, you wouldnt have posted this is an Off Topic form. Tech questions belong in Software.

Maybe the original poster did take your advice to heart. Is there some rule that says they must acknowledge you?

As for your own question....what can I say. This isn't a technical forum.

So far, I have had very few complaints about Vista. But then again, maybe I am easily impressed or something. :)

Although I just ran into my second issue with this install. Seems that my product key was already hacked and in use. Heaven forbid any one actually pay for something, lets just steal what ever we want.
