VLC media player

I am using the VLC media player as my primary video player because it will play nearly any format however it will occasionally have trouble with a video that will play once then not the next time or then onward, but then it will play in windows media player. This has happened on 1 or 2 occasions in the past.

My question is; does VLC media player have a cache and/or memory that I can clean when such events occur that may cause a file to seem corrupt to VLC media player when it is actually not?

If Windows Media Player plays videos that VLC media player has an occasional problem with, then the latter's included codecs may have become corrupted.
I suggest you re-install it.

BTW Which version of Windows are you using?
