Volume Control problems

I recently posted about a problem I had with some sort of virus, but that seems to have been sorted but now my volume isnt working.

When I go to volume control I get this message ''There are no mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to control panel, click printers, and other hardware, then click add hardware.''

I cant insert any cd-roms as I have a notebook. Im thinking something happened when I was sorting the previous problem. Iv followed some steps iv seen on here that other people have been advised to do but its done nothing.

 

Do you see any yellow exclamation points or question marks in your Device Manager, under the Hardware tab in your System control panel applet? it could be a corrupt driver.

 

No nothing like that, iv been through all them and checked.

That link you gave me, do I have to pay? I dont really want to pay for something and it not work.

 

No, what plodr meant to say was:

Bring up your Services control panel applet by doing Start -> Run and typing "services.msc".

Then scroll down the Services until you see Windows Audio. Make sure it's staus is "Started" and it Startup type is "Automatic". If it's not, double click on it and start the service or set it to automatic and click ok.

 

Yeah I know. Iv done that and its started.

 

What OS are you using? did you try checking you system files for corruption using the "sfc /scannow" command from the command line yet?

 

What does OS mean?

And no, how do I do that?

I have no idea about computers :-o
