VPNing

Greetings all..Help yes help
here's the problem...

at office t1 - Ciso pix501 set for vpn pptp chap v1 (ms-chap v2)

at home cable - xp pro
vpn connection set to unencrypted password, chap v1 (ms-chap v2) vpn type auto. Have vpn user name and pass have my local account set up the same way as the office account....

Now I connect with out a problem...so then I try to map drives....bam brick wall wont let me do it. No browsing, no seach for com name...nothing.

Any ideas????

are you trying to map drives to the IP address directly? Or are you trying to map drives using the VPN connection? I assume you're trying to use the VPN conecton to map drives, What do you see when you opn up the network neighborhood? Any computers? If you have computers, but can't access them then I would check the account permissions. If no computers then I woul say that somethi i wrong with your VPN conection. What are you attempting to do? If you don't actually need to pull data, but just need to see and edit it then I would suggest terminal services, it's much easier, doesn't place near the burden on your network and IMO is more secure.

 

I only see local pc's (on my end)

have other users who can get in with the same settings on the the same os??

What does it take to set that up??

 

Are you trying to map it by name or IP? Go to a DOS window and type route print, and post that. Give the subnet of work and the subnet at home, its not the same one is it?
