I have a question about wireless connections. Ok so I'm sitting at home and I randomly decided to turn WLAN thing on my laptop on. Well it found a wireless network so I decided to access it (yes I realize this is stealing), but my question is ... when I access an unsecured wireless network, can the person who actually owns that network tap into my computer and see what I'm doing and get my information and such?

    Thanks for the help.

First you should know that in many places is considered illegal to tap to some one lese connection (secured or not).

Second, yes what ever can be done through your network to your computer can be done by your “new partner” when you are on his network.

I think it's worth pointing out that his Wireless Router will almost certainly be keeping records of all users on the network. If he looks at this, it will be obvious that you are stealing his bandwidth (if you do).

My advice, why bother. Internet access is cheap in most places.
