Please follow the steps below:

- Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus RemovalMake sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

- Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.


After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem:

- Download HijackThis 1.99.1

- Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

- Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

- Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

- Run HijackThis and save your log file.

- Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

 

It will be difficult to impossible to fix anything if you cannot download anything at all. Do you have access to another PC which you could use to download utilities and maybe burn them to a CD and then copy to this PC.

Or maybe using a floppy you could at a minimum get and extracted version of HijackThis 1.99.1 to run. A glance at your log could be very helpful. Otherwise click CTRL-ALT-DEL simultaneously and write down the processes you see and post them back here.

I need to see the HijackThis log I requested in my first message.

 

Okay! I assume from your message that you extraced hijackthis.exe somewhere. Did you use Winzip to extract it? If so, you could have created the necessary folder while extracting it by using Winzip's ability to create a New Folder.


To create the C:\Program Files\HJT folder youself. Do the following:
- Click START and select Explore.
- Select the drive where Windows is installed (normally C
- Navigate to the C:\Program Files folder and select it.
- Now click the on the top menu where it says File and then select New.
- Then select Folder
- A new folder is created and highlighted.
- Just type HJT to overwrite the default name (New Folder)
- Hit the Enter key

Now you have the C:\Program Files\HJT folder and you either need to move, copy, or extract the hijackthis.exe file to this new folder. Then you can run the EXE file by double clicking on it. You can also make a shortcut to the file on your Desktop so that when you double click the shortcut C:\Program Files\HJT\hijackthis.exe will run.

Oh! I do have a 95 Honda Accord (my son's car) that needs some work.

How to Troubleshoot Spool32 Error Messages

 

Let's take a look at that HijackThis log I asked for way back and see if anything bad is hanging around.

 

Do you get any error messages?

Try renaming hijackthis.exe to myhjt.com and run it.

If that does not work getting the below file to your PC some how (floppy, CD, flash drive) and run it:

Download ProcessExplorer from: http://www.sysinternals.com/files/procexp9x.zip

Unzip it and now run ProcessExplorer and lets configure some options first:
Click View and select Show Lower Pane. And where it says "Lower Pane View" make sure DLL's is checked. Now click on explorer.exe. Now also under the View menu choose "Select columns" and put a check mark on "Image Path".
Now click on File and then Save As. And save the process list. Post it back here as an attachment. Also, from now on if I say to kill a process, use ProcessExplorer instead of Task Manager. Sometimes ProcessExplorer can kill things that Task Manager cannot.

 

No! My last instructions had nothing to do with IE. But I still not sure we are going to find anything related to your spool32 messages.
