W7 won't start anymore

When I select W7 during start-up it seems to start in a normal way up to the first glimpse of the desktop and then it tells me that the computer can't be started.
Next it suggests a systemrepair from an earlier date and when I try this startrep.exe tells me that instruction 0xfc01584d points to memory on 0x00000008 and instruction 0xfc7e7a43 points to memory 0x00000051 which implies a failure to read or write in memory.
Is there anything I can do to repair this or do I have to re-install Windows ?
None of the possible repair facilities of the installation CD worked.
    Help is much appreciated.

I did, no responses there. I figured it to be more of a Windows than a Mac problem but my hopes for a solution are sinking fast.

No it is a W7 partition on a Macbook, no bios as far as I know

Macs must have a BIOS. the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) controls access to the hardware and hardware options. It is not a part of the OS and is central to the usability of modern computers. Without a BIOS, the OS, whether or not it is Mac, Windows or VAX, could not use the hardware.

Incorrect. Mac's, VAX do not have a Bios, unlike a PC. Mac's use PRAM for holding hardware settings, and cannot be changed by the user.

Mac's, not MAC's yes now use EFI for the newer Intel processor machines. It is just that Microsoft has not realized how much better EFI is, than a conventional Bios that has limitations.

Interesting discussion but I rather had some suggestions to solve my problem which is not an EFI problem but a memory problem.
Using F8 during start-up I tried every item of the menu and the results I got were, after a promising start-up splash screen, an immediate restart, a BSOD, error messages about memory read or write errors and a bad_pool_header.
Since I have not seen any useful suggestions in this and other forums I take it there is no solution and decided to re-install W7.
    See you around geeks.

Thanks for the link, I 'm familiar with the procedure but its good to have it all spelled out again. I have deleted the bootcamp partition and I wonder would it not be better to run Windows as a virtual box in OS X ? The only reason for me to run Windows is the use of chess programs which are not available for Mac.
What is your opinion in this ?:confused

Yes, even far better is Stockfish which is an open source program and almost as strong as Rybka the strongest commercial program.
The problem is that the GUI of those programs is very limited. I prefer to use ARENA or AQUARIUM as GUI but those are not available for Macs.
