W95 virus and spyware scanning?

    Older folks using W95 and it seems to do all they need while hopefully offering some inherent protection agains viruses and spyware not programed to work with W95.
    But, is there any software that could be used for extra protection with W95 for virus and spyware scanning?

    Most of the current software thats mostly used on XP systems is ok to run on onler 9x versions such as win95

    AntiVirus

    Avast
    AVG
    a2 ( A Squared ) trojan,malware, dialer scanner

    plus most other major players such as Norton, McAfee, Kav etc

    Spyware

    Ad-Aware
    Spybot S&D
    SpywareBlaster

    only one I have noticed doest support win95/8/ME is Microsofts own AntiSpyware

    Thanks much for the info.
    Went to Avast and downloaded their virus scan and it seem to work well.
    Am getting an error message when it opens up "A required .DLL file WS2_32.DLL , was not found"
    After checking on the net a few places it looks like I need to download a "Windows Socket 2 Update" at

    Does that make sense to you?

    Sounds ok to me.... as this is a newer app then an old OS like Win95 could need some further updates and as the site is MS then its perfectly ok.

    BTW just installed Avast on my new laptop and I do like it.. I may dump my old McAfee Pro ;)

    Avast is nice, merge the icons (right click one of the two) to shorten up space the two icons use in the tray. AVG is sweet too.
