What is the overlay cache? It has been appearing in task manager.

Can you be more specific? Does it just show "Overlay cache" in your process list or is it in your programs list? You might want to use Process Explorer to determine exactly where the program is on your hard drive and try to figure out what it was installed with.

Shell overlay icon cache service and identified with SOS Online Backup. Okay, it is the Major Geek free backup app running. Btw, any idea what the icon cache has to do with backups?

Your shell icon cache service is a program that keeps a cache of icons for various programs, thumbnails, etc so windows doesn't have to open and read every file in a directory or your start menu or desktop every time it wants to display an icon. This speeds up windows interaction with the user significantly. I don't know what it has to do with a backup program.

You might be talking about an IO overlay that monitors for file changes so you can do an incremental backup. I'm not at all familiar with the SOS backup program.
