Want to copy Yahoo mail, cannot

I am beginning to thin the sole purpose of a computer is to malfunction in some way. I have been addressing other issues with help from here.
I had member of a Yahoo group email pictures, as attachments, to my mailbox. The copy/edit program I use handles that format easily.
Copied these onto my desktop, renamed the file, then onto outgoing Yahoo mail addressed to group (Yahoo forum)
One file I attached starts by having Norton scan for virus. Norton never quits scanning.
With the other attached files (pictures), I cannot open pictures. Instead, I get a display of the MS Windows icon from desktop.
The forum's group members tell me they cannot open the attachments either.
I have no indications of a virus. My other email server (Thunderbird) sends and receives with no problems.
I use the Yahoo forum because it is a restricted "members only" format.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
