I'm talking about valid files that just waste space, not malicious files.

I had an idea to scan for all files that haven't been accessed for, say 3 years, then move them to an external drive to free up HDD space thereby speeding up various scans.

There was a time in my distant past that I could write the DOS command. Today, I haven't a clue. Will someone more current (read Major or Colonel Geeky) please write the Command line DOS command for me?

I want to scan for all files not accessed for X years then move them to Drive (Target).

My main Drive is C. Target Drive is J.

I know you guys and gals can ace this problem.

I reckon your idea could lead to quite unexpected problems. It would far more effective imo to use something like TreeSize Free to reduce the space occupied and so reduce the number of files to be scanned.

    I second Earthling's recommendation.
Run TreeSize as administrator. Select the folder you want to scan. Right-click any column's description and check Last Accessed. Under Expand, click To Level 6.
