Now we are involved in an air war in Libya. :( US and coalition forces are waging an air war against Libya's air defenses.

The Irish have shown their support for the Libyan no fly zone by sending 400 cans of Vapona.

Sorry, I'll get my coat. :-D

112 Tomahawk cruise missiles launched by British and American submarines and ships against ground targets 'cruise missiles carry a 1ton high explosive warhead' the Libyan air defence system has been severely disabled,French,Canadian,Quatar and Italian planes have also been involved in the operation codenamed 'secret mission to bomb Libya':-D Nah Odyssey Dawn.

Targets were mainly around Tripoli and Zawiyah and aimed at Libya's SA-5 surface-to-air missiles to enable our planes to patrol the no fly zone.Gadafi promised a cease fire then attacked Bengazi the home of the revolution inflicting genocide on the city.

This really is a no win situation,if the rebels were left Gadafi would have crushed them, tens of thousands would have died but now we're in war where the sides are not clearly defined the good and bad guys don't where uniforms.

I think its essential we don't put troops on the ground,if we do we'll be stuck there for a very long time and it will be a disaster, the rebels just need a helping hand to disable the military then let the Libyans decide their own future,if we don't the interim government will be untrusted by the people and considered a western puppet like in Iraq and Afghanistan.

    All MHO:)

I'm watching 24 hour news now,the journalists are surprised that Triploli has been hardest hit by the air strikes as they are there and haven't witnessed any explosions?I dunno...

I do find it interesting that we seem to be the first one people call to for help, and then we are the first to be blamed.

Ask the Bilderbergs gents, and yes Fred_G, you were correct in including the name Bush, but Junior is a typical cookie cutter player on the world stage. It is Senior who history will show as one of the most POWERFUL men ever in the history of the world.

Has anyone congratulated President Obama for unlocking the award for most cruise missiles fired at a country after accepting the Nobel Peace Prize? Because I'd like to be the first to do that otherwise.

Fred... I much enjoy your humor and certainly appreciate your critique, so may I add a few sticks to your fire?

As a background, I have been actively involved for more than 43 years in the political arena thru my parents, myself and my wife.

First I joined the 'D' party, which culminated in my being asked by party officials to run for a State House seat being vacated, with their inscribed intention of my being elected State Senator in two years.
A brief and fair description of my indoctrination by all my democratic brethern, e.g. my being quietly and privately advised dozens of House and Senate representatives as to what I could say and not say, being advised as to what and who I could support and not support. After a few months of this, I very unpolitely resigned from the race much improving my opponents mood, and the party.
Next came the 'R' party, and to make this brief I saw much of the identical hypocrisys there, so I resigned again.
Just my opinion Fred, but we have the Demo and Republi cats, who if their agendas were pieces of paper, you could lay one on the other parallel with each other and overlap them 90% without any fear of difference.
I believe we have the best politicians money can buy, who regardless of initial intent are swept into a system corrupted worse than a soggy HD.
So I agree with you, daddy Bush begat a little Bush who rode the 'housing industry' as his stud, similiar to Clintons on the 'internet', until both feel flat from exhausting and each ultimately proved neither were the great white hope as an economic vehicle for the good old US of A.
Then of course, Wham Bam Obama came along, and regardless of his intention or integrity, he found himself in a box where he must conform to the same ideologies and confinements of his predacessors.
Only when we give Washington a HUGE enema Fred, and flush the stagnation from the colon of DC can we ever slow the descent of this empire and not need fiddle players to announce the failure of our rome.

I hope the civilians arent going to get harmed as they stated, News said 64 civilians died already which includes a 3months old baby, but the US, France and UK explained there is no civilians got harmed so far. I dont know which side tells the truth, I only no civillians get harmed.

Ah Tim... I know I'm new here and I certainly don't mean to step out of bounds.
But its a rainey day here and I believe we're just all criticizing and verbally castrating the realities of our world.
If we don't point our collective fingers or poke a little whimsey at the truths and realities of our world, then it is totally depressive.
I can speak for no one else here, but my brief tenure on MG and reading it all tells me this is a group of friends who are openly able to discuss, and at times even disagree without nuking each other. I believe this is called being adults.
As Bonexx just brought to the table, the sad reality today is every nation and every religion involved in this apparently believe that collateral damage to civilians is acceptable.
And whether we agree or disagree, the disguise of fighting for the freedom of others is part of the ultimate plan to control the world.
If you think this thread is somehow harmful or out of line, then censor me but don't throttle free thinking and discussion. ;)

Rhetorical......you haven't been here long enough to have seen some members childish remarks made when we had a Hot Button Topics forum. Heated arguments and lots of name calling. That's why the HBT forum was discontinued. ;)

Honestly Tim... fortuntaely, or unfortunately for me, even though I have been a member since 2008, I was on very little for most of the time and have only recently became actively involved.
I have seen no infighting or other garbage and this is one of the reasons I 'became actively' involved on MG. I am too damn old to waste my time listening to small minds whale away wildly with personal predjudices. I DID NOT find that on this site, if I had of, I would not be here.
I have seen nothing to make me flee.
Obviously the site and adminstrators are doing their job in policing the loudmouths and idiots.
This is why I asked you plainly as I don't believe in mincing and assuming onlymakes an *** out of you and me. So I am sure and I appreciate your answer.
I am a straight forward guy who doesn't mince words.
I like you site, and intend to learn and have fun here.
Given the previous history of conflict, I can appreciate your point of view.
I'll add politics to my conflict list along with religion, as nothing good ever comes from those discussions.
    Peace, Out.

Without getting Hot Button in here, I pretty much agree with most of what you said. I am very tired of both the d's and r's. Both are just in my opinion, performing poorly, and should be held accountable. Saying much more than that, in my opinion, would be outside of the allowed content of the forum.

Now, We all know all wars and conflicts to start after 2008 are Canada's fault... through a direct world invasion the likes of which history has never witnessed before, ...... Justin Bieber.
Not even Bush saw that one comming :booger
The United states retaliated 2 years on with a devastating assault.... Rebecca Black, but I can't see her having enough long term impact on the situation.
By comparison, the UK's Spice Girl invasion was quite pathetic.

As for my opinions on the OP, there's sod all any of us can do about it anyway so we should all do what we do best, live our lives as best we can and hope it resolves asap :)

You would have thought governments would have learned, Iraq Afghanistan Viet naam all started as police actions and look where they ended,in full scale wars.

If this confrontation is not resolved quickly it could go the same way and especially if ground troops go in,My old military unit the Royal Marines have been put on 24 hour standby so what are the intentions of the governments involved?

We are not the peacekeepers of the world.

All our countries are in financial difficulties but they find money for this.

This is devastating I think, I hate war I really do, but I think it's completely necessary for the people of Libya to be chasing out their leader. He's clearly not fit to be leading the country and there is lots of new information about him torturing people for no reasons at all, or petty reasons and his methods are despicable. No decent leader should be ruleing with fear.

That said, I don't really want to see any more troops be sent away. Australia is still waiting for people to come home, and I know that so are other countries. Unfortunately that means that the Libyan people will have to stay on their own and battle this guy by themselves, I really hope that it ends soon.
